
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We would like to inform you of a new process for completing registration paperwork, the new process will make things smoother for all involved. The change is prompted by several issues in the past, such as incomplete registration paperwork, no payment, and misunderstandings on if your youth/s were registered. Please read the steps of the process below carefully and completely, this will insure a smooth registration process.1. Please submit the โRequest for Registration Paperworkโ form for each youth you are wanting to register, by emailing the form/s to contactus@bgcuv.org
2. We will send you the paperwork that is needed for your youth/s in order to complete the registration process
3. Please return all fully completed paperwork with payment toย contactus@bgcuv.org. There are two ways to make the payment, you may complete the credit card authorization form or call the office. This must be done when you submit the paperwork. We will send you a confirmation # and this will signify that your youth/s are registered. If you are registering multiple youths, you can combine the fees into one payment. If you do not receive a confirmation # your paperwork has not been processed and your youth/s will not be registered.
Things to Know:
โ If you have checked the box indicating you would like to apply for a scholarship to lower the fee, please note that unless you currently have an up to date scale on file you will need to provide proof of income for the working adults in your household. Some examples of proof are: Income tax return, last 2 months of paycheck stubs, statement of unemployment benefits, social security benefit letter, public assistance such as TANF or SNAP documentation or foster providers. Boys & Girls Club Flag Football League โ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQโ)

1. Who can sign up for the flag football league?
Boys and girls in grades 3-5 are welcome to join. Players will be grouped in age-appropriate divisions to ensure a safe and fair playing environment.

2. Do players need prior experience to join?
No experience is necessary! Our league is recreational and designed to tach fundamentals while encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun.

3. When does the season start and how long does it run?
Registration is open on May 5 and ends on September 5, 2025. The season begins on Sept. 20 and ends on October 25, 2025 (6 weeks).

4. Where are practices and games held?
Practice are held 2-3 times per week at local Roseburg School District schools. Exact days and times will be announced by the team coach. Practices will begin after September 10, 2025. The majority of games will be held in Roseburg with a few Saturdays traveling to other locations in Douglas County. All games will be held every Saturday from September 20 โ October 25, 2025.

5. What equipment is required?
Players should wear athletic shoes or football cleats (no metal cleats), comfortable athletic wear (no pockets), and will be provided with a team jersey and flag belt. Mouthguards are required.

6. How often do teams practice and play games?
Practices are held 2-3 times per week. Games will be held every Saturday during the season (6 weeks).

7. Is flag football a contact sport?
Flag football is considered a non-contact sport. Physical blocking, tackling, or pushing is not allowed. Players may use screen blocking, which means positioning themselves between the defender and ball carrier without making physical contact. Some blocking may include elbows in and palms out.

8. Can parents volunteer to coach or help out?
Absolutely! We encourage parents and guardians to get involved as coaches, assistant coaches or helpers. All volunteer coaches and parent volunteers must complete an extensive background check which includes fingerprints and an online safety training.

9. How do I register my child?
You can register your child by completing the Registration Request Form on our website at BGCUV.org or in person by visiting our office during office hours, Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

10. How are teams formed?
Teams are formed at each Roseburg School District school on a first come first serve, by date and time basis, until the maximum team size is reached. Combined teams will be formed to accommodate players if there is not enough to fill a team at their school, or maximum number of players per team is reached. Please note that we do not take request for team placement and all players are required to receive equal playing time.

11. Can I request that my child be placed on a specific team?
No, we do not take request for team placement.

12. Is there a cost to participate?
Yes, there is a registration fee to play, however, that is based on a sliding scale and income verification.
